Back Care Awareness Week (7 – 11 October 2013) is focusing on Caring for the Carers this year and we at Christine Osbornes wish to extend gratitude to the many local carers that come in to support our patients that depend on their aid.
There are around 6.5million unpaid carers in the UK who frequently put the needs of others before their own, sometimes sacrificing their own health and wellbeing. In a recent survey 83%2 of carers reported that their caring responsibilities had affected their physical health, which includes injuries sustained through manual handling.
We have two excellent therapists here at Christine’s, Nancy Reyes and Elizabeth Matthews that offer alternative therapies focused on Back care. Nancy and Liz work with their hands using a wide range of treatment techniques, such deep tissue massage and joint mobilising techniques designed to ease conditions including Poor Manual Handling, Heavy Lifting and Stress Relief as well as many more.
Treatments will be tailored to the clients needs. If you feel its time to indulge in some Back care or know a carer who deserves this care give us a call on 01932 345562 to book an appointment.
Carers and locals with an interest in improving our village for people with extra needs may also like to attend the ‘Help make your village dementia-friendly’ meeting held on the 17th October, 6:30pm – 8pm at the West hall, West Byfleet. Click here for details.
A report by Carers UK and the University of Leeds calculated that carers’ willingness and ability to provide care saved the NHS and social services around £119bn3 a year. But a carer’s ability can be compromised if they suffer an injury or develop pain that isn’t treated.
